What You Need To Know
The Travel Lock is a safety feature designed to prevent your epilator from switching on accidentally when packed in a suitcase or bag. An unintended start could drain the battery or even damage surrounding items.
Here’s how Braun describes it in the Silk-épil 9 manual:
Travel lock
To activate the travel lock, press the power button 3 seconds until a beep confirms successful activation. To unlock the device, press the power button again 3 seconds. Release the power button, when the appliance starts running. Unlocking can also be done via charging.

Why Did Braun Add Travel Lock?
This feature became necessary when Braun moved away from rotating dials to press buttons. The push-button design is considered more hygienic, but it also makes the epilator more prone to accidental activation in a suitcase or handbag. The Travel Lock ensures that doesn’t happen.
